چکیده

Adult specimens of the common edible limpet; Patella vulgata were collected from rocky shores of Abu-Quir, Alexandria, Egypt. There are two morphs of this species; the first morph has shell with projecting ribs from its aboral surface while, the second one with soft-surfaced shell. The authors used one of the most recent techniques; random amplified polymorphic DNA-polymerase chain reaction (RAPD-PCR) to determine if these morphs represent two separate species or only one species. The current result was depending on the estimation of the genetic distance (D) that was based on the proportion of shared alleles of the two morphs. Four random primers were used and the estimated genetic distance was slightly above (0.5). According to the current result, the two morphs of Patella vulgata can be considered as two subspecies.

Distribution pattern of invasive barnacles of Caspian Sea, Amphibalanusimprovisus(Darwin, 1854), in the rocky shores of south Caspian Sea

Barnacles are most important macro benthic population of Rocky shores that Amphibalanusimprovisus is a dominant invasive species of this group. Present study aims to define the number, biomass, coverage rate and to study the factors affecting on the distribution of this species in various parts of rocky shores of south Caspian Sea. Ten sampling stations were selected in the natural and artific...

The study of seaweeds biomass from intertidal rocky shores of Qeshm Island, Persian Gulf

Rocky shores are one of the most important habitats of marine environment in coastal areas. They host marine organisms including seaweeds because of existence of strong and stable substrate for their growths. Intertidal rocky shores are a prominent feature on coastal areas of Qeshm Island located at the northern part of Strait of Hormuz. In order to study biomass of seaweeds on rocky intertidal...

Diversity and distribution of True Crabs (Brachyura) from intertidal rocky shores of Qeshm Island, Persian Gulf

Rocky shores are one of the most important habitats of marine environment in coastal areas. This study was done in 2010-2011 to investigate the diversity of true crabs in intertidal rocky shores of Qeshm island. Samples were collected from intertidal zones during the low-tide at 5 stations. The specimens were fixed in 70% Etanol and transferred to laboratory for identification. Altogether, 15 c...

یافته علمی کوتاه: معرفی شکم پایان خانواده Cypraeidae در ناحیه بین جزر و مدی سواحل جنوبی جزیره قشم،خلیج فارس

Gastropod communities were investigated along two intertidal sandy and rocky shores in Qeshm Island, the northern Persian Gulf, IR Iran to identify the species of the family Cypraeidae. Monthly sampling was undertaken from May 2007 to April 2008 by haphazardly placing eighteen 0.25 m2 quadrates along two 30m wide transects located approximately 300m apart, perpendicular to the sea, in each sand...

Application of Random Amplified Microsatellite Polymorphism (RAMP) in Prunus Characterization and Mapping

Random amplified microsatellite polymorphism (RAMP) is a PCR-based marker which uses a combination of two classes of markers: Simple sequence repeat (SSR) and Random amplified DNA polymorphism (RAPD) markers. RAMP has been demonstrated to be a potentially valuable molecular marker for the study of genetic relationships in cultivated plant species. The objective of this study was to optimize the...
